Yoga of the Voice 6 Week Series at Touchstone Wellness Center

November 6, 2021 @ 11:00 am - December 18, 2021 @ 1:00 pm EDT

A powerful weekly series that helps you to find your voice, remove inhibitive patterns, and find new freedom in your voice.

Saturdays only / weekly series (Nov. 6 – Dec 18 at 11:00 am – 1 :00 pm EST; no session on Nov. 27)
This six-week workshop series focuses on the voice as a healing mechanism in the expressive and healing arts modality, Authentic Voicework ™. Guiding you into the heart of your authentic self through the body, breath, and voice, we play our way to disarming inhibitions in order to gain access to your creative brain and set yourself free.
Themes include the voice as a barometer, your bodymind as an instrument, the vibrational voice as extension of self, and helps you to reconnect to your unique voice and authentic self.
Many vocal activities will help bring out your voice, helping you to regain parts of yourself that may have remained hidden. Stephanie Heidemann, Founder of the Authentic Voicework Institute, LLC facilitates an open, deep and powerful experience that is sure to shake open and peel away negative feelings you may have about your voice.
*Dress comfortably and ready for movement. (Jeans / skirts not recommended.) Bring bottled water, and your own yoga mat. Come with an open mind and give yourself time to arrive early and be present.

How is this a form of yoga?

Nāda yoga is an ancient Indian metaphysical and philosophical system based on the premise that the entire cosmos and all that exists in the cosmos, including human beings, consists of vibrations, called nāda. This concept holds that it is the energy of vibrations rather than of matter and particles which form the building blocks of the cosmos.
Nāda yoga is a reverential way of approaching and responding to these cosmic vibrations. Silent vibrations of the self (anhata), and sound and music (ahata) are considered to play a potential intermediary role in achieving a deeper unity with both the outer and inner cosmos.
Nāda yoga’s use of sound and resonances are employed to raise the level of awareness of the chakras. The anahata chakra (heart) is considered responsible for receiving / perceiving internal/inner music. In raising awareness of this particular chakra, we increase awareness of our inner music, or what I call the ‘music of our authentic self.’
Thus, Authentic Voicework: Yoga of the Voice is essentially a program to raise your awareness, give birth to and deliver the unique song of your authentic self through your voice. Such a process gives rise to increased self-remembrance, intuition, physical and energetic sensitivity, and awakening.
