“Each time I have participated in this workshop and shared in this process, I have healed, grown, been curious. I am grateful for the wisdom, and Stephanie’s ability to bring forth my authentic voice, while holding a safe space.”

Yoga of The Voice Retreat
Founded in basic singing technique, expressive arts therapy theory, kundalini, and nāda yoga, this special retreat guides you to connect with your own voice as energy in motion. The practice allows the vibrant energy of our authentic self to move through us with love, joy, creativity, and trust.

What happens at a retreat?
Retreats are an amazing way for you to dedicate a block of focused time and energy to yourself in commitment to your authentic self, and defining what that means for you. We don’t always know until we get there, and until we see what comes up once we open up our mouths to sing.
We begin with simple stretching and breathing exercises, grounding our connection into the body. Simple vocal warm-ups follow, with a body-based approach to vocalizing to draw awareness to the body as instrument.
Much like a group therapy process, we will get to know each other and the unique issues we are having with our voice, and we soon find how many universal commonalities there are between these issues – which brings us together and de-escalates the stress and anxiety we often have around our voices.
Singing games foster a place for exploration, bringing out the child-like essence. Improvisation is used for cutting new ground, building self-trust, without harmful criticism and judgment. It is a learning process to explore without self-judgment. As we vocalize, we willingly bring ourselves closer to the borders of our inhibitions. When we begin to sing authentically, the heart immediately responds by melting stiff body armor and setting us free.
Slowly but surely, people begin to unwind their inhibitions around singing and exploring more deeply, allowing their emotions to unwind and be expressed. This may be the first time in a very long time feeling emotions that were not allowed to pass through the three gates of what is allowed to be spoken: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it nice?
Connected to this allowing is a sense of worthiness, of giving yourself permission to exist, to feel, and to be heard. For many that have attended this retreat before, or multiple times, this retreat has been life changing. Prepare yourself for deep change where you will become your own best advocate for your true self, the one you have been waiting for.
